Egypt (FETP)

Established in 1993, Egypt’s Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) was the second to launch in the Eastern Mediterranean Region. Operating across central, intermediate, and local levels, the program strengthens national preparedness and response capacities through a comprehensive, multi-tiered training structure. The program offers Advanced, Intermediate, and Basic modalities, reflecting its commitment to building a skilled and sustainable public health workforce: Egypt’s FETP has trained professionals across all 27 governorates, with its coverage expanding beyond the earlier reach of 18 governorates at the advanced level and 7 at the basic level. Graduates of the program have gone on to serve as epidemiologists and leaders within the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), as well as international organizations, contributing to Egypt’s national health security and to regional and global health initiatives.
