Lebanon (FETP)

Launched in 2022, the Lebanon’s Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) is one of the most recent additions to the Eastern Mediterranean Region’s FETP network. Established in the Basic modality, also known as the Public Health Empowerment Program (PHEP), the program was created in response to Lebanon’s growing need for a skilled public health workforce capable of addressing disease surveillance and outbreak response at the district level. This in-service, three-month program equips residents with practical, hands-on skills in managing surveillance systems, conducting outbreak investigations, and responding to diseases. It also builds leadership and planning capacities essential for implementing and evaluating public health interventions. The program is led by the Ministry of Public Health, with technical support from EMPHNET, contributing to Lebanon’s efforts to strengthen national epidemiologic capacity and preparedness.
