Sudan (FETP)

The Sudan Field Epidemiology Training Program (Sudan FETP) was launched in 2017 by the Federal Ministry of Health in partnership with EMPHNET and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The program is hosted within Sudan’s national public health infrastructure and is recognized by the Sudan Medical Specialization Board as an MSc-level training pathway. Sudan FETP operates across three modalities: Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced, providing tiered, field-based training to strengthen the country’s capacity in surveillance, outbreak response, and public health research. In 2022, the Intermediate FETP, a one-year modality, was formally launched. The program places strong emphasis on mentored fieldwork, with residents trained to conduct and communicate epidemiological research as a core competency.
