Tunisia (FETP)

Launched in 2017, the Tunisia Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP) was established through a partnership between the Ministry of Health, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and EMPHNET. The program is hosted by the National Observatory of New and Emerging Diseases, which plays a central role in coordinating surveillance and outbreak response across Tunisia. The program aims to strengthen Tunisia’s capacity to respond to public health threats through evidence-based decision-making and field-based training. Following a mentored field model, 80% of training time is dedicated to fieldwork, allowing residents to apply epidemiologic principles in real-world settings. Residents are required to complete five core deliverables that demonstrate competencies in surveillance, outbreak investigation, and data analysis.
